We will detail the export process step by step in this chapter to cover all functions of the NOVA plugin for Revit.

To start the export process for a  Revit scene, click the Export button in the Add-Ins menu . Eventually, a message asking you to save the scene will appear. This process is essential. Save your scene as a new one and press the export button once again.

Step 1:

The first step allows you to specify the output path of the file for NOVA Studio. Please complete this part. Then, you can specify what kind of graphics rendering you want  (mock white, colored or textured). Click Next to proceed to Step 2.

Step 2:

The second step allows you to select the cameras to be exported. This module makes the distinction between orthographic cameras and perspective cameras. By checking the respective boxes, you can access these cameras from NOVA Studio. You can also rename cameras, choose the speed of the selected camera , edit the navigation mode (Fly will enable a fly mode through the 3D scene and Walk enables a walk mode if collisions in the scene are activated-see below ). Finally, you can add an effects on the selected camera. Anaglyphic for green / red stereoscopic vision-like , black and white for a rendering in black and white, and bloom for a embellished rendering. Once these options selected, click Next.

Step 3:

The third step allows to select objects to export. By default, Revit uses different views as groups of objects. We collect this informations into groups of objects to export. Choose a particular view or stay on None and click the Next button (below).

Step 4:

This step allows you to select objects that will collide with the cameras. By default, several objects are identified as such and are already positioned on the right side of the interface. If you want to add a set of objects to the collide list, check the ideal location in the list on the left (this is where not collidable objects things are grouped by default ). The symbol will then appear  near the center, allowing you to move the group selected in the list of collidable objects. If you need only one object to be collidable, identify the group to which it is subject and click the plus sign in front of this group. Select this object and click the transfer button. To remove an object from the list of collidable objects, select the same way a group or a particular object in the right list and click the button to move this entity in the list on the left. Onceyour choices are made , click the Next button (Next).

Step 5:

In step 5, you will configure the objects that can disappear if you click on them in NOVA Studio. This is useful when a door is blocking your way, for example. The list on the left for objects that do not exhibit this behavior, while that on the right contains the objects that disapear on click. default, no object should be in the right part. To activate this option, first check the box next to "Make it transparent Elements Mouse Click", and like the previous step, drag the desired items from one list to another using the transfer buttons in the center . Once done, click the Next button (next).

Step 6:

This is the last step before the actual export. Here you specify whether you want to actually do NOVA after export to see your scene. You'll also be able to make a first pass optimization (which is not as good as that made in NOVA Studio, menu preparation) and you can view a detailed report on the export and any errors. This is sometimes useful to diagnose a concern when exporting. Click the finish button to complete your configuration and start the export process.
